traffic to websiteYou’ve managed to do everything necessary to get your new site uploaded to your web hosting account, and there it sits, as beautiful as can be, just waiting for folks to come around and sample its wares! You just need to be found! So how does that happen? One of the primary ways to be found in the search rankings is by getting inbound links to your site. In many ways the Web is a huge popularity contest, and you don’t want to be left behind! Let’s look at seven great ways you can build incoming links to your new website!

Article Marketing – Writing, (or having written for you) and original article on your site’s topic is a very easy way to generate more than a few great incoming links. First get some great content, and then submit it to the best article directories on the Web, like Ezine Articles, ArticlesBase, GoArticles, Buzzle and others. They have a lot of built-in authority, and will sometimes get your article placed high in the search engine rankings, of course carrying a link to your site!

Web 2.0 Sites – Creating a page on some of the more popular Web 2.0 sites out there like Squidoo, HubPages, Blogger and WetPaint, among hundreds of others, is another, similar way to get not only traffic to your site, but also incoming links. They are almost always very easy to post to, and you can do quite a few of these in no time at all!

Blog Commenting – If you find yourself reading a blog and are moved to make an insightful and useful comment, leaving a link to your site is not frowned upon. What is frowned upon is “comment spam”, where you leave another scintillating version of “nice post!”, and expect not to get deleted!

Twitter and Other Social Networks – Leaving links in your social posts, and particularly in your profile pages, is a good way to drop links. Moreover, you are very likely to see direct traffic from this type of activity as well.

Social Bookmarking Sites – Having your content bookmarked to social bookmarking sites such as Digg, StumbleUpon, Mixx, Mr. Wong and others is a good way to not only drop links, but possibly create a buzz about your content. Making it easy for visitors to Re-tweet your posts, and otherwise help socialize your content is a tremendous way to go viral fast.

Press Releases – If you have something new or newsworthy, issuing a press release is a great way to get both an instant traffic hit, as well as long term link value. Make sure you have something that is indeed news, however.

Videos – Using videos to bring traffic and links to your site is a no-brainer these days. Google and the Web in general are in love with video. Google even owns YouTube! If you are personable or simply have great information or an innovative way of presentation, you’ll soon find your videos getting an insane amount of videos and subsequently high rankings, which will translate to eyeballs on your site!

There you have it! Seven ways that anyone can drop links and attract visitors to their new site, and I do mean anyone. These tactics are not rocket science, and any of them can be quickly learned and employed. Don’t fail to try them!
